Tasted out of a double ball glass. I tell you what I think, for the price that Patron is asking for this 'gem', it had better be a damn good tequila.

It wasn't. Was it smooth? Yes, almost so smooth that there was almost no taste to it. It just seems like another marketing scheme to get people to think they are getting something really great. Id do my formal review (with the aroma, initial taste, etc) but why bother? Bottom line is that the taste was so subtle that it was like there was no agave presence whatsoever. When I drink a tequila, I want to TASTE the agave, I'll even accept some harshness if I have to. You know, it's almost as if I expected something like this from a company like Patron, so in one way, Im actually not disappointed. I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Touted as the smoothest tequila (blanco?) ever produced.
After purchasing a bottle and sampling in a Riedel glass, I was very disappointed, especially given the price - approx. $175 for 750 ml. I would rate this as a midrange at best and definitely not a good buy for the price.

I love drinking blanco tequila on the rocks with a squeeze of lime. Sacrilege? Maybe, but it's how I like it. So normally when I rate a tequila I rate it the way I drink it.

But there's no need for lime or anything else with Patron Platinum. It is quite simply the best tasting blanco on the planet. Smooth, mild, with a hint of fruit almost like honey dew melon ending with a beautiful agave finish and a hint of mint. The presentation is outstanding.

This is the blanco I find myself comparing everything else to and while I like Casa Nobles, I love Patron Platinum.

This is my first review of a tequila and my tastes might not be as refined as others but I wanted to share my experience with the Gran Patron, tasted on 12/21.

My wife bought this for me as a Christmas present and said I could try it before it went under the tree. I tend to like the anjeo's more than the Blanco's but my wife is much more sophisticated than I in purchasing tequila - she liked the maple box, the black velvet bag, and the bottle, so she bought it.

I really enjoyed this tequila, the aroma was very pleasant, I liked the agave taste and it was very smooth with a nice warm finish. I liked it allot. You can say what you want about the price, it is a little pricey, but when you pull the bottle of Gran Patron Platinum out to share with friends, it's going to be impressive.

Thanks Honey, you did good.

Tasted 10/26 in a side by side comparison with Tezon Blanco in Riedels. Initial nose is very pleasant with agave and almost no alcohol. The first taste had mild heat and agave with a bigger 2nd taste bringing forth more earth and sweet agave with a slightly green taste. The body was fairly thin and light with a straight clean agave flavor. Very smooth. It's finish had a very drinkable moderate alcohol heat with a sustained strong agave presence throughout. I like this tequila very much and would sip it neat anytime without a problem. Of course, it goes without saying that this tequila has one of the most super special impressive presentations going, (Crystal Bottle, Velvet Black Bag, and Curley Maple Box) and I'm sure it's got a lot to do with the price but that being said, I recommend you go ahead and get a bottle on sale and you can be sure that it will impress your friends and your taste buds when you're in the mood it sip a Blanco/Platinum tequila.
