Tasted out of Snifter 07/16/08. While Asombroso definitely has a very unique taste all unto itself, my taste buds did not agree with this blanco. The smoothness was there, yes. But too much creaminess, so the taste of this tequila did not agree with me, thats what I based my review on. So, as usual, this is my own personal opinion.

Aroma: Hints of floral and vanilla.
Initial Taste: An oily mouth feel, very sweet on the top of tongue.
Body: Very creamy vanilla and floral body with hints of black licorice. I barely detected any agave presence.
Finish: Of short duration with no alcohol burn.

Like I said, just to sweet for me to enjoy.

Tasted out of Double Ball glass. As Ive stated numerous times, Im a true blanco lover (too much wood taste and I get ill) and its hard to get me away from blancos. Don Julio 1942 does a great job of showing me that not all aged tequilas have to be dominated by the taste of wood. An excellent sipper to be reckoned with!

Aroma: Pleasant wood and cinnamon tones.
Initial taste: a very pleasant agave sweetness. No bitterness.
Body: An oily mouth feel of warm wood, smoke, agave, and slight vanilla.
Finish: Smooth as silk, with no alcohol burn.

It seems to me, that the Don Julio line is one of the most consistent out there. I love their blanco, and I like their repo. Im gonna have to give the anejo a shot. I hope they never lose their consistency.

Tasted 07/10/08 out of a double ball glass. 1800 Silver wasnt too bad for me. I really love the intensity of the agave in the body, but other than that, not too much there to make me want to get another bottle. Yet, at $20 a bottle, not a bad value.

Aroma: Mild hints of floral and earth.
Initial Taste: On tip of tongue, its bitter followed but mild sweetness.
Body: Heres what I like about this blanco AND the Reserva de Familia Platino. Really, really intense agave, spices and earth.
Finish: Of short duration with heated alcohol burn.

tasted 07/06/08 out of a old fashioned double ball glass. being a true blanco lover, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this repo. It wasn't too woody, as I get an ill feeling when there is too much wood.

Aroma: A nice agave nose with hints of cinnamon and earth.
Initial taste: This is where I usually cringe if it's too woody. Inital taste was sweet with no bitterness.
Body: Thin mouth feel with a very pleasant agave complimented softly by wood and cinnamon.
Finish: Of medium duration with no alcohol burn.

Tasted on 07/05/08 out of Double ball glass. I don't feel let down, yet I wasn't WOWED either. I definitely don't see myself buying a bottle of this. As a matter of fact, I was 'forced' into drinking this because it was the ONLY tequila they had at the bar I was at.

Aroma: A bit difficult to detect. On the subtle side definitely. Hints of earth and agave.
Initial taste: A thin mouth feel, on the tip of the tongue there was slight bitterness.
Body: A subtle body of agave, earth, and spices. I like my bodies to be bolder.
Finish: Of short duration, with no alcohol burn.
