Asombroso is such a good all around blanco, El Platino has such a strong essence of vanilla, you can smell it from the moment you pour the glass, and intensifies when you breathe it in through a riedel, the initial taste has vanilla, and citrus all over it, once in your mouth resting, the body of the blanco kicks in, what a wonderful sensation, and the finish is ...wow. Similar to most blancos this one is also very smooth, and a delight, the price is right on the money, very reasonably priced compared to it's aged counterparts, At first, the bottle design really caught my eye, and i thought of it as a beautiful bottle, but once i bought a couple of them and received mixed comments from my friends when they would come over, the bottle seemed less attractive to me,and I'm pretty sure you've also heard comments in regards to the shape of the bottle, but regardless the Asombroso line is just that... Asom.

Okay so here it is, the excitement leading up to this tasting, was awesome, the guy who presented the tasting, kinda didn't know what he was talking about, his notes were way off from mine and others in our group, We also tasted the new Cabo Uno, which didn't do as well, but back to Ultra, i was initially mesmerized by the color, it looked so rich in the reidel, the nose was beautiful, aromatic of that of a Bordeaux barrel, with a real sweet smoke scent, really nice, the initial taste was well, kinda like my dad would put it "salta 'patras" which in english means jump back! it hit kinda strong but once it sat in your mouth for a sec, the body gave in to a rich smooth texture, with a wonderful finish, not too harsh, but could've been slightly tweeked, with maybe a little citrus, and vanilla combination. The price, well i think we all know that the price is way up there, and is truly only for the dedicated collector, and aficionado. In all, the Clase Azul Ultra is rare and has a place in Tequila Aficionados' heart, price definitely could've been lower, heck even the price per bottle in Mexico is high, but i guess if you are willing to invest in this you know that it must be worth it, i hope to own one soon, but we'll see, there aren't that many in this first batch, so maybe the price will go down in the next, who knows. All in All, Ultra really did live up to it's name, now let's sit back and watch as other Tequila Companies try to out do, what Ultra has hands down accomplished. It's going to be fun to watch, and taste.

Once again, The Orendain family has a winner, i walk into liquor stores, and this stuff is no longer top shelf stuff, a darn shame, Don Eduardo is so underrated, true it has received tons of awards in the past, but why did everybody forget about this brand? This family knows what they are doing, and they continue to do it right time and time again.

Don Julio Extra Anejo Real is great, i've had tasted better, but i was lucky to find two bottles for 200.00 for both! So no i'm not going to complain about the price, it's worth what i paid, and oakyness is strong at first but it goes away, when you first initially open the bottle the aroma hits you like a ton of bricks!, just awesome smell, what not to say about the bottle and presentation, excellent, i paired this with a honey bbq sirlion steak at home, and it was awesome, really brought out the flavors of the smoke.

Very pale straw in color; the aromas are extremely vegetal, with a very faint smokiness that provides an interesting backdrop. The body is big and silky, and the palate, filled with wood-smoke flavors, is surprisingly understated. Some citrus notes also show themselves on the tongue, and the finish is warm and very long-lasting.
