This is an interesting place but everything is shoved into a small place and you definitely fell crowded. We stood by the bar and had to move everytime to let people by because there is not enough walking space with the bar and tables in place. There are bottles all over the place and many are rare finds (unless your at Tommy's). The food is good but for the money, I have had better. All in all, I would say go to tommy's instead. Tommy's has better food, cheaper prices, and better tequila selection.

Wow! What a dissapointment. I went to this place the last time I was in LA and would not recommend it to anyone. One of the bartenders said it best, "I don't know much about tequila, I just work here," when I asked a tequila related question. They could not even find the bottles on the shelves. I had high expecations for this tequila bar because they originally did tequila tastings every week but I guess the employees never attended them. If you want to pay high prices, get poor service (which is interesting since it is a small place), and learn nothing then this is the place for you. I have known many people that have gone here and they typically all have a similar experience to mine. What a shame.

Querido Viejo Blanco NOM 1431 Tasted on 10/5/07 at 4pm. I tasted this unaged tequila at my house in a Riedel glass from a bottle I was given. The estimated cost when available is $48 to $55 a bottle, which in my opinion makes this tequila an excellent choice when examining quality versus price. Each bottle is numbered and comes in a rustic wooden box with a custom bottle stopper. While the bottle comes with the custom bottle stopper, I would not recommend using it. The stopper does not properly seal the bottle and, thus, I would not recommend using it for anything other than short term use. The tequila is clear in color and has intense aromas of floral and fruit. Less apparent aromas include moderate spice, mild earth, and a hint of smoke. Initial aspects of the tequila are a thin-to-medium mouth feel that provides a mellow and soft sensation on the tip of the tongue. Upon first taste, the tequila has no bitterness and a low level of sweetness. Flavors of Querido Viejo Blanco include intense floral and agave followed by moderate fruit aspects. Finishing with mild earth and spice, this tequila experience comes to an end with a medium to long duration of flavor and a numbing alcohol intensity. In my opinion, this tequila is well worth trying when it becomes available and using my rating scale I have award Querido Viejo Blanco tequila with the rating of 92/93 points out of 100.

I was hoping to keep this place a secret because they have some rare bottles. When I visited them I wanted to buy half the store. Prices were give and take, some were extremely cheap and some were over priced. However, when it comes to rare bottles that is to be expected. The only bad issue with this place is that with there huge display cases it is easy to miss bottles because they are all over the place. This could be part of the reason for the rare bottles so in a way it could be a good thing as well. Overall, Ramirez Liquor is a must see if you are ever in the LA area.

While I do not like to order online, when I am forced to my first choice is always Hi-Time. Their selection is amazing and they pride themselves on customer service. They ship stuff out very fast and in secure packaging. When you recieve your product you see where a lot of you shipping cost goes. One thing to keep in mind is that what is shown on their webpage is not always the same as what is in their store. Hi-Time is getting better with this and is now putting online which bottles are special order only. As for the store itself, it is huge. The tequila shelf is about 6-7 feet tall and at least 20 feet long. Then they have a glass case with all the fancy bottles which is about 7-8 feet tall and 6 feet wide. That is not it either, then there are bottles that are on sale, gift packs, etc all throughout the store.
The staff is very knowledgable about tequila as well. I have talked with staff numerous times. They will spend a lot of time with you going down the isles and telling you about different bottles and their opinions. You may ask where they get their knowledge. Well amongst other things, Hi-Time also puts on tastings. One of which is a huge tequila tasting (see their webpage for more info).
I cannot say enough about this place. I would make a trip to Costa Mesa just to go there...and I usually do.
