May 27, 2007 Herradura Reposado NOM 1119 Tasted 2/12/07. The tequila is a darker yellow golden color and has an intense earthy and floral aromas. Once you get past the intensity of the nose, you can smell moderate notes of fruit and vanilla. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft but yet has a moderate agave taste. While the tequila has a low bitterness, it is actually fairly sweet. The flavor has intense agave and earthy attributes which are followed by moderate floral flavors. Lastly, there are mild flavors of fruit, vanilla, and spicy accents. The tequilas finish is a long duration of flavor followed by a numbing alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the A- level.

 May 27, 2007 Gran Centenario Reposado NOM 1122 Tasted 2/16/07. With a yellow golden color, Gran Centenario Reposado has an intense floral aroma. Less apparent are moderate fruit and mild spice, earth, and caramel aromas. Upon initial taste, the tequila has a medium, oily mouth feel and is soft and mellow on the tip of the tongue. Intense flavors of floral and agave accents are followed by moderate earth, pepper, and spice flavors. The finish consists of a numbing alcohol intensity and a medium-to-long duration of flavor. I rate this tequila at the A- range.

 May 27, 2007 El Tesoro Reposado NOM 1139 Tasted 12/20/06. The tequila is a pale yellow color and has moderate floral and earth aromas. Once you get past the moderate nose, you can smell mild notes of spice, smoke, and fruit. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft but yet has a full intensity of taste and has a medium and oily feeling in the mouth. While the tequila has a low bitterness, it is actually fairly sweet. Now onto flavor. The flavor has mild agave, earth, fruit, spicy, and floral attributes. The tequilas finish is a medium duration of flavor followed by a tingly alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the B+ level.

 May 27, 2007 Espolon Reposado NOM 1440 Tasted 12/31/06. Espolon Reposado is a yellow golden color. Aromas consist of intense fruit, floral, and spice followed by moderate earth and smoke scents. The first sip of the tequila has a low bitterness and is sweet. The types of flavors Espolon Reposado has include intense agave, earth, floral, and spice. On the mild side, there are fruity and smokey flavors. The tequila finished with a medium-to-long duration of flavor and numbing alcohol intensity. I awarded Espolon Reposado the rating of B/B+ overall.

Once you get past the intensity of the nose, you can smell moderate notes of caramel and fruit. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft with a light intensity of taste but yet has a medium feel in the mouth. While the tequila has a low bitterness, it is fairly sweet. The flavor has intense earth which is followed by moderate agave, fruit, caramel, and floral. The tequilas finish is a medium duration of flavor followed by a slightly numbing alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the A level.
